Technology Assistance Program
What is the Technology Assistance Program?
Launched in Spring 2025, the Technology Assistance Program is designed to support students who face barriers to accessing essential technology. Through this program, students can meet with a member of our staff to discuss supports and request the technology they need to succeed academically.
Access to reliable technology is critical for college success. According to national data from Pew Research Center, nearly 1 in 5 college students report struggling with access to the devices or internet they need for coursework. Research from Reddy et al. (2021) further highlights how digital inequities can limit students’ participation in online education. This gap can hinder a student's ability to attend online classes, complete assignments, or engage with campus resources. At UCCS, we are committed to breaking down these barriers. By providing devices to students in need, we aim to empower every Mountain Lion to reach their full academic potential.
To start a request, please email dos@uccs.edu sharing that you would like to set up a meeting to discuss technology assistance. Once a meeting is confirmed, you can then connect with a member of our staff to share more about your circumstances and discuss potential supports.
Frequently Asked Questions
Any currently enrolled UCCS student who is experiencing challenges accessing technology needed for coursework or academic engagement is encouraged to reach out for support. To start a request, please email dos@uccs.edu sharing that you would like to set up a meeting to discuss technology assistance.
To begin the process, email dos@uccs.edu and let us know that you would like to meet with a Student Support Specialist regarding technology assistance. The Office Coordinator will help schedule a meeting to discuss supports.
The meeting is designed to be supportive and conversational. A member of our team will learn more about your situation, discuss available resources, answer questions, and explore potential technology assistance options with you.
Even if direct technology supports are not available or appropriate for your situation, we can help connect you with other campus resources, technology options, and support services that may help address your needs.
Technology assistance may include access to an iPad and information about other campus and community technology resources. Available assistance may vary based on student needs, program resources, and availability.
If you are in immediate need of technology, we recommend utilizing the Kraemer Family Library, which offers a range of services and resources for students. At the Kraemer Family Library, students can access desktop computers at no cost. You can see the library's hours of operation here.
