Information for Attorneys and Advisors

Are you currently advising a UCCS student who is involved in the student conduct process? Here is helpful information on how to support your student.

Important Policies:

Who can a student bring to a conduct meeting:

Any student involved in the conduct process has the right to be accompanied by an advisor during the conduct process.

What is the role of an advisor:

Advisors are not permitted to speak for, or on behalf of, the charged student or the alleged victim during any phase of the conduct process. However, with permission from the conduct officer(s) or the Conduct Appeal Board, advisors may make a statement on behalf of the student and/or ask questions of the student to present relevant information. If a student chooses to bring an advisor to the meeting, it is the student’s obligation to select an advisor whose schedule allows attendance within the time frame designated in the student conduct notice. The Office of the Dean of Students or conduct officer(s) is not obligated to reschedule the meeting to accommodate an advisor’s schedule.
