Impacts

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits have been impacted for the month of November. Some recipients may experience delays or changes in benefit distribution.

Additionally, federal employees and government contractors are currently not receiving pay, which may create added financial stress for students and families. If you’re affected, support is available.

On-Campus

  1. Grocery Store & Gas Gift Cards

    UCCS offers grocery store/gas gift cards through the Gift Card Request Program. This program provides one $60 gift card redeemable at King Soopers to eligible UCCS students. This is a first-come, first-served program with a limited number of gift cards available each semester.

  2. Single Stop

    Single Stop connects students to local community and governmental resources that can assist in meeting their basic needs. Single Stop also provides a local resource map based on the zip code you enter. Single Stop uses a free online screening tool that can estimate what supplemental resources students may be eligible for within minutes.

  3. Clyde's Cupboard

    Clyde’s Cupboard is a 100% donation-based and non-need-based food pantry on campus that provides free food and toiletries for all enrolled UCCS students. We will be increasing our monthly spending for the month of November. We will also be doubling our purchasing for the remaining Fresh Food Fridays.

  5. Office of the Dean of Students Basic Needs Support

    The purpose of UCCS Basic Needs Support is to foster community wellbeing and safety by supporting under-resourced students and providing resources referrals and education on basic needs security to the UCCS Community.

  6. Clyde's Care Packs

    Clyde’s Care Packs provide quick, supplemental food support for members of the UCCS community who may need a little extra help between meals. Each pack includes simple, ready-to-eat items such as oatmeal, soup, crackers, etc.

  1. Colorado 211

    211 is a confidential and multilingual service connecting people to vital resources across the state. No matter where you live in Colorado, you can find information about resources in your local community.

  2. Colorado Works

    Colorado Works is Colorado's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. When you join Colorado Works, you can get help with a monthly cash payment, schooling, training, jobs and much more.

    The mission of Feeding Colorado, which represents the five Feeding America Food Banks in the state, is to improve food security in Colorado through policy, advocacy, partnership, and education. Their vision is a future where everyone in Colorado has equitable access to the food they need to thrive.
